Board Notes April 27, 2010
The board held both a reorganization and a regular monthly meeting. Lisa Valentino-Pinto and Mimi Veneziani were sworn in for continuing 3-year terms. Mimi Veneziani was elected president, and Lou DeStefano, vice-president.The school budget for 2010-11 passed 99 to 85.
Existing appointments for various positions were reaffirmed and the meeting schedule was set for the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
The board approved the architect to prepare and submit drawings for additional exterior lighting for the parking lots and driveways.
Prices were set for school lunches and a la carte items for the coming year.
The board approved the offer of employment to Robert Garguilo as superintendent.
The school calendar for the coming year was discussed and tabled.
The board accepted, with regrets, the resignations of Frank DeSordi, parttime custodian, and Nina Genovese, playground aide, effective June 30.
All current school employees were reappointed for the coming year.
The board approved advertising the following positions: parttime custodian, cafeteria manager/cook, cook/prep/server, cashier, server, and cafeteria/playground aide.
Policy 6114, Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness, was revised in accordance with state law to reflect one fire drill and one emergency drill each month. This new procedure will be implemented for the 2010-11 school year.
The statement of assurance for the Multi-Year Equity Plan was approved.
Contracts with Maxim Healthcare Services (individual nursing) and Professinal Therapy Services (occupational therapy) were approved.
Professional development and field placements were approved.
The Student Council/Safety Patrol trip to Great Adventure was approved.
The 2010-2013 Technology Plan was approved.
The existing curriculum and textbooks were reapproved.
Mrs. Veneziani
requested support from staff and students to collect items for the troop of a
former student, now serving in Afghanistan. Mrs. Hoffman offered to coordinate
the collection.
