Board Notes March 23, 2010
Mrs. Angela Devenny was presented an award in recognition of her appointment as Educational Services Professional of the Year for Folsom School.
Mrs. Tucker presented information about the district’s Professional Development Plan for the upcoming year.
The board approved a resolution to reduce spending in the current year’s budget by $1,001,483 in order to address this amount cut from our state aid by the Governor. Mrs. Veneziani, Board President, addressed the audience regarding the need to cut costs for areas such as summer curriculum work and use of substitutes in order to support this reduction.
The board approved submission of the preliminary budget for 2010-11 to the county office. Total amount of preliminary budget is $7,698,098.
Tuition contract with Hammonton High School for next year, in the amount of $1,045,863 for general education and $137,825 for special education, was approved.
Contracts and adjustments were approved with Buena District and Atlantic County Special Services District for special education programs.
The board approved an inter-local agreement with EIRC for joint purchasing.
The board approved maintaining the current rate of $4,000 for parent-paid kindergarten tuition for the coming year.
The board approved the waiver request for participation in the SEMI (Medicaid) initiative, based on low numbers of eligible students.
Two students in grades 1 and 5 were granted choice status; the family has moved to Hammonton from Folsom.
Geraldine Trasatti’s notice of resignation was accepted, with regrets, effective June 30, 2010.
The ARRA grant funding for Title I was amended to allow more funding for educational supplies.
The current year school calendar was revised, adding five additional days in June due to snow closings. Graduation will be June 23, and last day for students is June 24.
Lorraine Wadlinger and Nancy Wanner were approved as substitutes.
Professional development requests were approved.
First grade field trip to Howell Living History Farm was approved.
Field placement for Justin Sharp was approved.
Mrs. Derringer’s
request to take a summer course was approved.
