Board Notes – February 24, 2009
Board members participated in trial Learnia math testing in the computer lab, similar to the benchmark testing our students have been taking this month.
Mrs. Spiegel’s letter of resignation was accepted, with regrets, effective June 30, 2009.
The FAA was approved to use the all-purpose room for a conditioning program.
The board discussed the scheduling of various facilities improvement projects. Installation of playground equipment for preschool students was tabled pending further study and possible collaboration with Folsom Boro.
The 2009-10 calendar was discussed. Due to the very late Labor Day in 2009, 2010 spring break will be shortened by three days to avoid the necessity of continuing school past the third week in June. The final calendar will be approved by April.
Rate for parent-paid kindergarten tuition for the 2009-10 school year was set at $4,000. A limited number of seats will be available. Letters of interest will be accepted through March 31, and a lottery drawing will be help in April.
There will be a special budget meeting on March 11 at 5 p.m. The date of the regular March meeting has been changed to March 31, following the Budget Hearing, which will begin at 6 p.m. The Reorganization Meeting has been set for April 28 at 6 p.m., followed by the regular monthly board meeting.
Jennifer Niceta and Robert Patrick were approved as substitute teachers.
Various workshops were approved for staff members.
Brittany Lawson was approved for 20 hours of observation during the week of March 2, 2009.
Approval was given to advertise for two classroom/basic skills aides for the remainder of the 08-09 school year.
The 4000 new and revised policies were approved for first reading.
Amy Sack was approved to provide homebound speech/language services for special education student OD-03 as per IEP.
