Board Notes October 27, 2009
Dr. Dan Blachford,
Hammonton Superintendent, gave a presentation on initiatives at Hammonton High
School.
The board met and
welcomed new staff members: Ms. Previte (Gr. 1), Mrs. Kirschner (PK), Ms.
Mammucari (Gr. 4), Ms. Pistone (Gr. 5), Mrs. Tucker (Curriculum Coordinator),
and Ms. Page (Spanish).
The board discussed
the recommendations from the technology audit recently completed, including
upgrades to hardware, software, and the school website.
The Comprehensive
Maintenance Plan was approved.
Various
transportation contracts and facilities use applications (Folsom Education
Foundation, Folsom Residents Association, Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts) were
approved.
The Standard
Operating Procedures and Internal Controls manual was approved.
Mrs. Rishel
discussed Family Portrait Night (Nov. 9 at the school).
Mrs. Rishel
presented new report cards created by the teachers for grades PK, K, 1 and 2,
which use a more appropriate grading system and better reflect the curriculum at
each grade level.
The board agreed to
proceed with removal of the old science table, sink, and cabinet from Room 117.
The board accepted,
with regret, Mrs. Jackie Cirillo’s letter announcing her retirement in June,
2010.
The board approved
termination of the current contract with Dr. Barbara Barrish, School
Psychologist.
The board approved
advertising for another playground aide and for a part-time School Psychologist.
Various professional
development opportunities were approved for staff members.
Naomi O’Rourke,
Rachel Ingram, Jennifer Silipena, and Meredith Hauser were approved as
substitute teachers.
Kelly Vitalo was
approved as Cheerleading Coach.
Field trips for PK,
K, and Grades 2, 6, and 8 were approved.
The board approved
first reading of the revised 6000 series, and final reading and adoption of the
5000 series and Policy 3541.1, Transportation Routes and Services.
