Board Notes – January 27, 2009
The board met with representatives from Falcon’s Nest, in closed session, to discuss FN’s policies and procedures. Falcon’s Nest is a privately-held non-profit business which is not under the direction of the Folsom Board of Education; it is a parent-paid latchkey program that provides before and after care for Folsom Elementary students.
The board acknowledged thank you cards from Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Berenato.
Several transportation jointures and tuition contracts for out of district special education students were approved, with Hammonton Board of Education, YALE School East, and Salem County Regional Day School. Hammonton and STA sports runs were also approved.
Moms Club of Winslow Township was approved to sponsor a Toddler Trike-a-thon at Folsom on 4/25 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. This event is open to the public.
Negotiations, Curriculum and Hammonton High School Committees reported on recent meetings.
The board reviewed timelines for their recently adopted yearly goals and objectives.
The board discussed services available from Folsom Boro’s Shade Tree Commission, and approved Ms. Santilli’s request for her third grade to plant a dozen trees for Arbor Day.
Mrs. Rishel recommended hiring two additional basic skills assistants. No motion was made by the board.
Various professional development requests were approved for Folsom staff members.
Laura Suhmann, Frederick Hathaway, and Renee Cramer were approved as substitute teachers; Denise Siligato, Anthony Parzanese, and Victoria Dombrosky were approved as substitute custodians.
40-hour field placements were approved for Rowan, Stockton, and Atlantic Cape students.
Folsom Drama Club was approved for two Saturday full-cast practices, March 21 and 28.
The 2009-10 Professional Development Plan was approved for submission to the county.
Jennifer Kane was approved as prekindergarten aide for the remainder of the 2008-09 school year.
The board approved the Atlantic County AVA Technology Center student assessment of $2,361.95 for the 2009-10 school year.
